Some days I wonder, “Am I stuck in some continuous cycle of a downward spiral?” It seems like after one problem is fixed, another takes it’s place. Do you ever feel like that? Man, I sure do sometimes. When it rains it pours.
Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat.
Even in the midst of the chaos and challenges we face, especially now with Covid-19, infamously known as “Coronavirus” sweeping across the world, there is still hope.
“I can do all things, through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 (NLT- New Living Translation).
Paul wrote this when he was a prisoner of the Roman Empire. A man well known to hardships; subjected to beatings, whippings, stoned by a mob, thrown in jail multiple times, shipwrecked, and left for dead. As he penned this letter to the Philippian church, he was chained to a Roman guard 24 hrs a day while under house arrest. Paul had to rely on his fellow believers in Christ to bring him supplies as he couldn’t leave his own dwelling. We could learn from Paul and relate to his isolation, as many nations presently are requiring people to stay in their homes and self-isolate to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.
Let’s read below the full context of that scripture:
“How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.”
Philippians 4:10-14 NLT

So in every situation, the secret is: you can do all things through Christ who gives you STRENGTH. We should not, we can not, conform God to a box of our limited perception that our mindset can conger up. It does not matter what we are going through, whether it be sickness, depression, sadness, anger, mourning a loved one, or going through the current epidemic of the Covid-19 virus… in every situation YOU can do all things through CHRIST who gives you strength.
Today is a new day. Let’s remember that as we go about our day. Many of us are adjusting to a new normal for the time being. When the cycle seems monotonous, or the news goes from bad to worse regarding our societies current situation, lets kick the cycle with faith, hope and love and be there for one another.
A new day will always come.
God is faithful, from sunrise to sunrise.
Christian
P.S. I listened to the song “You Won’t Let Go” by Michael W. Smith, on my way to work today. Take a moment, read the lyrics or listen to it. I pray it will encourage you and lead you to seek the Lord.
No shadow comes without the light making a way
No raging storm can ever defy one word of faith
My heart remains sure in the wind, sure in the waves
You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go
No valley low, changes the truth
So I’m not afraid
You hold me close
You lead me through and light up the way
You are the anchor for my soul
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
No matter what may come I know
You won’t let go
You won’t let go
Neither life, neither death,
The highest high, the deepest depth
Nothing can
Nothing can separate
Neither tears, neither trials
Certain as the sun will rise
Nothing can
Nothing can separate
Hi Christian so true. There are troubles on all sides but we are not perplexed like Paul wrote in 11corinthians 6. Verse 4 “we are servants of God with much patience in tribulations, in distresses, in troubles. “ the list goes on. I love verse 10 which says”as always being grieved but being joyful , as poor but being made very rich, as not having anything but possessing all things. In Jesus we have spiritual abundance and eternal life. That is number 1. We know that the spiritual can overflow into the earthly realm. But best of all we have Jesus Who is God Almighty. the all-sufficient One and we are engraved in the palms of His hands, so we can face today and tomorrow because He lives and He lives in us. That is a good reason to smile and say everything is going to ok. Xo hugs aunt Pauline.
