My eyes open to a dark room, with a small stream of light passing between two curtains. It’s 8 a.m. – I can’t believe I actually slept in that long. Now mind you, I did wake up at 5 a.m. battling a clenched jaw, but thankfully I went back to sleep.
It’s Saturday morning, and the first day of school is finished. It was a wonderful and crazy day, all mashed together, leaving my brain officially “cooked.” But that was yesterday, and today is a day of relaxation.
After getting dressed in some comfy clothes, donning my Marvel black t-shirt and pants, I slipped on my Grandfather’s slippers and made my way downstairs.
As I entered the living room I could hear “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys being sung by my youngest son. Yes indeed, with no actual song playing to guide him, the words were off, with high pitched singing mixed with low in every sentence- quite an interesting tune by this singer.
“Morning boys,” I said to my two sons in the living room. The girls were somewhere else in the house drawing. After perking some much needed coffee and pouring up a mug, I grabbed my bible, a journal, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and sat down outside in my chair on the front patio.
After about five minutes of reading, in an especially good part of the book, my phone notifications started to vibrate like crazy. At first I thought it was a phone call, due to the amount of vibrations, but it wasn’t. Instead it was the Back doorbell camera that was charging in the house.
Someone had pressed the doorbell button 30 times (with the Front Doorbell picked up my motion, when I went into the house to investigate, making it 31). Proof here ⬇️

As I walked into the house, there was my oldest grinning right next to the doorbell camera.
“It was so tempting – I had to push it.”
After reattaching the doorbell to the back of the house, I went back to my chair (with a second cup of coffee) to continue my book.
However that quickly ceased when my wife came outside, and I told her about my jaw pain from last night. She told me to relax, grabbed both sides of my jawline with her hands, and pusheddddddddd in with her fingerstips into where the muscles connect to the bone.

After recovering from my torture episode, I decided to write this short post about my relaxing Saturday morning. Good news is, my jaw doesn’t hurt as much (thank you, dear) and… I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Have a wonderful Saturday.
